Blues for the BLUES
Hartford Team: Owen, Freddie, Mackenzie, Frankie, Nigel, Teddie, Luke, Benjamin and Mackenzie.
Heroic Hartford crashed out of the cup against a strong and well organised Roundhouse intent on revenge for their defeat to Hartford earlier in the season.
Having won the toss, Hartford decided to kick off. However, it was Roundhouse who took control in the opening minutes, applying pressure to the Hartford defence. After five minutes Hartford had found themselves back in the game. Noticeably, with some good work down the right side from Frankie. In control, Hartford bossed the game.
Captain Owen dealt with everything in front of him, almost scoring a goal in the process. And his work paid off with a pass to Nigel who hammered the ball home giving Hartford a deserved lead.
It wasn't all one way traffic though, Hartford's goalie Teddie had to pull off some fine saves. But Hartford's good work was undone when Roundhouse managed to grab an equaliser before half time.
In the second half unfortunately, things got worse. Against the run of play Roundhouse played a long ball which was clinically finished to give the away team the lead. Hartford needed to pour forward in search of an equaliser. Teddie was pushed forward to add more attacking threat for Hartford with Luke taking over the goalkeeping responsibilities.
Suddenly, Roundhouse again found themselves on the break and managed to score their third goal.
It was now a matter of all or nothing for Hartford, but with great work from the likes of Mackenzie , Mackenzie and Benjamin it was Nigel who came closest to scoring, heading against the bar.
It wasn't all bad news for Hartford. They managed to win a free kick on the halfway line late in the game. Up stepped Frankie to send the ball soaring into Roundhouse's net with a truly spectacular shot.
It was a good performance for Hartford, despite the scoreline. Let's put it right at the next match!
Final Score: Hartford 2-3 Roundhouse
