Admissions

Cambridgeshire Local Authority (LA) is responsible for setting the admissions policy and criteria for this school.  Parents wishing to apply for a Year 3 place for their child in September should contact the school for an admission form.  This form should be completed and returned by 15th January.  Parents will be informed some time in April whether a place is available for their child.

Places will be allocated on the basis of the Published Admission Number (PAN) for the year group and the admissions criteria.  The PAN for Year 3 is 60.  In the event of over-subscription, the following criteria will be used to determine priority for places.

Children who have a statement of special educational needs that names the school will be admitted.  NB.  Those children with a statement of special educational needs that does not name the school will be referred to Student Assessment to determine an appropriate place.

1.  Children in Care, also known as Looked After Children (LAC).

2.  Children who live in the catchment area, attend the partner infant school and who have a sibling at the school (or partner infant school) at the time of admission.

3.  Children who live in the catchment area who have a sibling at the school (or partner infant school) at the time of admission.

4.  Children who live in the catchment area and who attend the partner infant school.

5.  Children living in the catchment area.

6.  Children who live outside the catchment area, but attend the partner infant school and  have a sibling at the school (or partner infant school) at the time of admission.

7.  Children who live outside the catchment area, but have a sibling at the school (or partner infant school) at the time of admission.

8.  Children who live outside the catchment area, but who attend the partner infant school.

9.  Children who live outside the catchment area and who have been unable to gain a place at their catchment area school because of oversubscription.

10.  Children who live outside the catchment area, but nearest the school as measured by a straight line.

In cases of equal merit in each set of criteria, priority will go to children living nearest the school as measured by a straight line.

Parents seeking places in other year groups can apply at any time.  If there is a place, it will be offered.  If the year group is full, the child will be placed on a reserve list and the parents will be offered the right of appeal.

Further information about admissions can be found in the LA’s primary admissions booklet for parents.
